In the spirit of FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) Week that took place from 24-30 September this year, Universal Paper employees turned up to show the trees we planted in Sher Park some love this past Friday.
Last year, UP hosted our very own Arbor Week. We took time to gather in groups to plant indigenous trees together in our very own park at UPP HQ.
Fast forward a year and the fruits of our labour are beginning to take shape. The theme was to wear green in support of the FSC® with many turning up in the appropriate attire, ready to get their hands dirty. Weeds were plucked, soil stirred up, fertilizer thrown and ground watered with music in the background to make light work of it all in the searing heat. There are few things more rewarding than seeing nature flourish, helped along by human hands. The day was a great reminder of where the raw material for our own production processes is birthed and how we need to take care of the system for ourselves and future generations to come.
