This uniquely gorgeous Toilet Paper Wedding Dress, designed and produced by Van Tran (25), was made almost entirely out of toilet paper. Yes, you read that right, bathroom tissue was the main fabric used to make the dress.
Tran spent three weeks brainstorming and creating a couture-inspired wedding dress in her Brooklyn apartment. After approximately 100 hours of work, 10 toilet paper rolls, tape, hot glue, and glitter glue, Tran had completed her toilet paper dress and went on to become the winner of the 12th annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.
Tran said she came up with the concept of her toilet paper dress, which she named “Winter Lust,” following a massive blizzard the year after she moved to New York.
She reported that people were in amazement and someone said, “I can’t believe you made a wedding dress out of toilet paper. It actually looks like a wedding dress.” Before the final show, Tran had thoughts of a toilet paper dress malfunction or disaster on the runway, but she focused on the fact that she had just created a design that she was proud of.
Tran used silver glitter glue and toilet paper to construct the headpiece as a compliment to her dress. She said that she hopes to continue working in fashion, eventually getting into the costume design industry.
We hope to see other weird and wonderful and creative uses for toilet paper in the future!
